Welcome to Year 1 - 3AS!

Welcome to Mrs Shaw’s/Miss Pippin's class. We are a Year 1 class . Throughout the morning we learn Phonics, Literacy and Maths. We cover foundation subjects in the afternoon.

We do PE on Mondays , so please bring in your PE kit at the beginning of each week or leave it at school. Children need to wear shorts, T-shirt and PE shoes. Please take out earrings before the lesson or have plasters to protect your ears.

Our summer term topic is  hot countries. We have been learning about the Arctic/Antarctica last term and before Easter we started looking at India, Bangladesh and Pakistan which we will continue. We will be linking up with our friends from East Boldon Infants School.

Science: Plants and growth.

History/Geography: We are looking at the Himalayas and India. We are finding out about explorers .

Art/Music: This links with our History/Geography topics.

Reading Books

Children are asked to bring reading books into school every day so children have the opportunity to read and change their books.

We welcome parents to come in and share the library experience with children on Tuesday's at 3pm. If you can’t make it then children have the opportunity to change their library book later in the week. Previous library books must be returned before children can take out a new book.

Homework Day - handed out on a Thursday and returned by no later than Tuesday.
