Class 5 Miss Pippin/Miss King

Welcome to our Class 5 page. Miss Pippin (Monday – Wednesday AM) and Miss King (Wednesday PM – Friday) are our class teachers and we have lots of other wonderful staff supporting our learning.

Following transition from their previous class, children experience a range of learning opportunities and study the full National curriculum. Our day will include a Sounds-Write phonic session, a Maths lesson and an English lesson. These will gradually be more formal across the Autumn Term. In the afternoons, we will cover our topic work through small guide groups and continuous provision.

The class will complete a Phonics Screening in June 2024. This is a government standardised assessment completed individually with the class teacher. We will be working very hard to decode real and 'alien' pseudo words in preparation.

 Reading and Homework

It is extremely important that children bring their reading books to school daily. This will give more opportunities to read and change their books. We will be recording our reading through an app for use at school and home (more details to follow).  Reading at home makes a significant difference to children's progress. Reading for five minutes, several times a week, is strongly recommended. Ending the day with a bed-time story is a great opportunity for parents and carers to enrich their children's vocabulary and share a joyful experience together.

Homework will be set on Thursdays and due in the following Tuesday. To submit homework, please take a photo on a device and upload it to the relevant task on your Google Classroom.

PE Kit

Please bring kits in for your PE lesson on Wednesdays. Earrings must be removed or covered on PE days.
