Hello and welcome to Class 2!
I am your teacher Mrs Shaw and I am so excited to finally meet you all!
Usually we would have had the opportunity to get to know each other and spend time in your new classroom before the start of term. Things have been a little different this year!
You may be feeling nervous, worried or anxious about starting school for the first time but please don't worry! I will try my very best to make you feel relaxed and happy. I hope that you are also quite excited about the new experiences you will have.
This is a very special year for you and your families, your first year in school full-time. You will develop and learn so much this year and I look forward to celebrating all of your achievements with you and your family!
Miss Bonar, Mrs Giles and I will always be available for you to speak to. We will also be available on a morning or at home time to address any parent concerns or queries.
I will update this page regularly and aim to keep you posted on all the events and learning that takes place!
Please take time to look at this page regularly for information, photos and to see what is happening in school.

Forest School Approach!
The children will take part in different Forest School learning experiences once a week! These sessions will often take place on a Wednesday but this may change.
We understand how valuable outdoor learning is and how this positively contributes to children's development. These experiences will allow children to investigate the world around them and become familiar with their environment.
Please make sure your child has suitable footwear and clothing at school, as we will be going outdoors in all weathers.
All children will be given their homework books on a Thursday.
They must be returned to school by the following Tuesday!
We aim to change your child's reading book as frequently as possible.
Children's reading books allow them to apply and practise the sounds and words we have learnt in phonics.
Please ensure you read with your child as often as you can and return their book to school regularly - it really does make a difference!
The children can also access books online.
Their individual logins will be provided.
All learning in Reception is based on the 7 curriculum areas stated in 'Development Matters'.
We carefully plan our continuous provision activities and focused lessons to ensure children are given varied, frequent opportunities to achieve their full potential.
All areas are interlinked through our holistic approach to learning.
