Understanding the World

Growth and Change

We are learning all about Growth and Change in Summer term 1. We have been busy reading the story of Jasper's Beanstalk, and we learned about what plants need to grow. We then got to work planting our own beans, using the trowells to scoop the soil, pushing the bean in the soil and then watering it. We are looking forward to seeing how they grow and change over the coming weeks.

British Science Week

We celebrated British Science Week in Nursery. We did some exciting experiments, like putting water on skittles to make a rainbow, baking soda volcanoes and the mentos and diet coke experiment. The children loved it!

Autumn Treasures

We have been busy looking out for signs of Autumn. As part of this we asked the children to take their own special Autumn treasures bag to find different things out and about which relate to autumn. This could be crunchy leaves, conkers or pinecones. We shared our findings in group time, and then went on our own Autumn walk in the school. The children loved spotting different things and we found lots of treasures.
