Be Unique;Believe, Achieve, Succeed Together
In Reception, a great deal of time is spent focusing on children's personal, social and emotional development. As children return to school they will be given many opportunities to talk about their feelings and experiences whilst they have been away from the school environment.
We hope that by the end of Reception children are able to regulate their feelings, speak confidently about their wants and needs, and can adapt their behaviour when necessary. It is important that they are also able to manage their own basic hygiene, make healthy food choices and address their personal needs such as dressing and going to the toilet.
The children are given the opportunity to work towards goals, work collaboratively and develop turn-taking skills.
We discuss our feelings and the feelings of different characters in the stories we read. We develop empathy towards others by working together as a class to ensure all children feel safe and happy.
