Welcome to our class page!

Here you will find lots of information about our class and things to remember. You will also be able to find out about what we have been doing in lessons.

Don't forget that we also have our amazing Google Classroom Page too.

Welcome back to a new school term and I really hope you all had an amazing Easter break. This half term is short with only 5 weeks and some Bank Holidays too, but we have lots of exciting work to fit in.

   Things to remember

  • Please remember to check you have the correct school uniform. If you are unsure, all information about our school uniform and PE is on our school website.
  • You can still bring your own pencil cases and stationary equipment into school with you, but it is your responsibility to look after these.
  • Water bottles are to be taken home and filled up at home if you want to have them in school with you.
  • If you have any worries or concerns, please come to see me or you can email me or send a private message on Google Classroom if you need to speak to me and I will do all I can to help you.

PE

  • Our school PE session is on Monday mornings and you need to make sure you have your full PE kits (plain white t-shirt, plain navy shorts and trainers with non-marking soles). I would recommend you come to school dressed in your kit so we can make a quick start to the lesson.

                                 Homework

Maths Homework is set every Monday, on MyMaths, and is due the following Thursday morning. If you do not have access to an iPad, laptop or device for your homework, please speak to Mrs Giles before Thursday and she can help you. If you are struggling with your homework, Mrs Giles will be available on Wednesday lunchtimes to go over this with you - so please do not worry!

English Homework is set on a Thursday and is due in the following Monday. You will have homework books, but most of your work will be set online on our Google Classroom. Please make sure that it is handed in on time. You will be given spellings to learn each week, as well as some SPaG and sometimes a writing task.

                                                                                                Reading

Reading is a very important skill and Year 5 is no different to any other year. You will be expected to have a reading book in school every day. This book should go home and someone at home should try and read with you at least once per week. Your reading book should be returned to the classroom each morning and taken home again each evening. You will also be expected to access Reading Plus at home and you will have a target to meet each week.

Year 5 may seem a really scary year, but it can be the best year yet!

You will need to work hard, and we have a lot of catching up to do, but we will also have so much fun. There are so many brilliant things which usually happen in Year 5 (fingers crossed).
