Reception Mrs Donnelly

Welcome to Class 2. We are a Reception class with Mrs Donnelly as our teacher. We work closely with Miss Barr and Class 3.
Our learning is a mix of adult focussed and child initiated learning. Our learning takes place both indoors and outdoors. Please make sure your child has suitable clothing and footwear to learn outdoors. In the Summer your child will need a sunhat and suncream applied before school.

Topics
This term our topics are Summer and Where we live. We will be looking at features of the local area around us.  We also follow the children's interests and plan activities based on them.

Literacy and Maths
We are encouraging the children to develop their writing confidence and write in all curriculum areas both indoors and out. We are focussing on writing sentences, lists and captions.
We have a daily Phonics lesson.

We are also focussing on the children's reading and speaking confidence.

In Maths we are focussing on counting to 20 and recognising numbers  beyond. We are solving problems using both addition and subtraction skills.
We are focussing on 3d shapes, money and time.
