Be Unique;Believe, Achieve, Succeed Together

Reception 2 Miss Ridley

Hello everyone, welcome to Class 3!

This time in your child's life is particularly special and memorable, as it is their first year attending school full time. I hope to make this experience as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Myself, Miss Bonar and Mrs Giles will always be available for you to speak to. We will also be available on a morning or at home time to address any parent concerns or queries.

I will update this page regularly and aim to keep you posted on all the events and learning that takes place!

Please take time to look at this page regularly for class information updates and to see the fun that we are having together.

Monday 7th June - Return to school.

Friday 23rd July - End of summer term.

Your child will need the following:

Their PE kit

A warm coat

Their reading book

Forest School Approach!

The children will take part in different Forest School learning experiences once a week! These sessions will often take place on a Wednesday but this may change.

We understand how valuable outdoor learning is and how this positively contributes to children's development. These experiences will allow children to investigate the world around them and become immersed in their immediate environment.

Please make sure your child has suitable footwear and clothing at school, as we will be going outdoors in all weathers.

Reading Books

We aim to change your child's reading book as frequently as possible.

We give all children a book we believe is not too easy nor too challenging, as we want reading to be enjoyable for all.

Please ensure you read with your child as often as you can and return their book to school regularly - it really does make a difference!

These books are phonetically decodable and compliment our phonics scheme we use in school.

The children can also access books online.

Your child has been given their individual log in details to use.

Homework:

All homework will be set on Google Classroom on a Thursday. This is to be completed by the following Tuesday please so I have time to mark this and provide feedback.

We use the 'Tapestry' app to record observations of the children in Early Years. We add photographs, videos and comments about your child and what they have been learning at school. This is a lovely way for us to communicate with you as parents and you can also add photographs and comments about your child from home!

You will be sent an activation code via email to gain access to your child's account.

Please come and see me if you are having any issues with this.

The Curriculum!

All learning in Reception is based on the 7 curriculum areas stated in 'Development Matters'.

We carefully plan our continuous provision activities and focused lessons to ensure children are given varied, frequent opportunities to achieve their full potential.

All areas are interlinked through our holistic approach to learning.

Click on the 7 curriculum areas below to see what we have been up to!

We are delighted to be an Early Adopter school for the new curriculum set to become statutory in September 2021!
