Our day

We start the day with Write Dance to develop or gross and fine motor skills. Then we have Phonics. Planning time follows where we choose our own areas of learning and the teachers make observations. This learning takes place both indoors and outdoors.  After a run around outside the children take part in focused Literacy and Maths activities in small groups or 1 to 1.

In the afternoons, we start with an active Maths session and then cover topic work. We also have 30 minutes of Basic Skills which this term is focusing on writing. Guided Reading also takes place in an afternoon.

This term our topics are Autumn and New beginnings. We are looking closely at the changes in our environment as well as settling into our new classes. We also follow the children's interests.

Our week

Tuesday at 3pm parents are able to join us for library.

Wednesday afternoon is class library time.

Friday is PE day. Please make sure your child removes any earrings or covers them with plasters on this day. PE kits are to be brought in at the beginning of term and kept in school. They will be sent home for be washed at the end of each term.

At the end of each week we will send home phonic and handwriting homework. This needs to be returned the following week.

When children are ready for a reading book they need to be returned daily and parents are encouraged to write comments in the Reading Record.

We do outdoor activities most days so please ensure your child has suitable clothing and footwear.
