Be Unique;Believe, Achieve, Succeed Together

Y3/4 Mr Webster

Welcome to Year 3/4!

Welcome back to Hadrian and most of all welcome to Year 3/4! It has been a very strange time these last 6 months, but you have no need to worry! We have everything covered and we are all here to help! Although things will not be as normal as they usually are, we are all in this together and I can't wait to start a new year full of fun, hard work and great memories. Let's do this!

Google Classroom will be an important part of your learning this year, but don't panic, I will be showing you all how to access your emails and Google classroom when we return to school in September!

Finally, you can not bring in any equipment to school - we will provide you with all of the stationary you will need and a water bottle. You will not be allowed to bring any other items from home (such as pencil cases, etc).

PE - Keeping fit and active!

We have PE on Wednesdays. During these strange times, children will bring their PE kit in on a Monday and take it home on a Wednesday to be washed for the following Monday. The children will go home in their PE every Wednesday until further notice. They are welcome to bring some sports trousers or jogging bottoms to wear over their PE kit when going home for PE, especially when the weather begins to get colder. I will keep you updated on any changes throughout the website or our half termly newsletters.

Homework is given out every Thursday and must be completed by the following Tuesday. Homework will be set on Google Classroom for children to access at home, however, children will be given Homework and spelling books to keep at home to use for support when doing their homework.

Homework consists of Spellings (tested every Tuesday morning), times tables (tested every Tuesday afternoon), My Maths and Reading Plus. Due to the children not being able to take their reading books home every night, Reading Plus is a great online platform for children to read at home every night. They will be asked to read 5 books each week at home and this will be monitored at the end of each week. If children have no access to the internet at home or cannot complete homework at home, please speak to myself and I will do all I can to help!

Children will be given usernames and passwords for their Google Classroom account, My Maths, Reading Plus, Prodigy and Times Tables Rockstars. All other homework will be set for children to complete on Google classroom.

Great Readers = Great Writers!

During the current climate, please ensure children bring their reading books into school on Mondays and then they will be changed and given back to them with a new reading book every Friday to read over the weekend, as books will need to quarantine at school for 72 hours. Children who read more become better writers, as well as, introducing themselves to many new ideas and a vast range of vocabulary. Ensure there is a signature/parent comment left in their reading records, so I know that children have been reading with an adult at home.
