Our art topic this half-term is - Drawing; Exploring line and shape.

We started our art topic by looking at some artwork by Bridget Riley.

She is famous for creating 'Op-art' pieces. These works of art produce a disorienting physical effect on the eye. The children were asked what they could see in the pictures, and they had some excellent ideas, including waves, the sky, wavy hair, a wheel and a helter-skelter.

The children have practised drawing a variety of different types of lines. They have experimented with some different types of art materials, including oil pastels and chalk. They have also investigated what happens when they change the pressure or the control.

This week in art, the children were using the different techniques we had learnt about pressure and control, to make a collaborative piece of artwork. They listened to a variety of different classical music clips and used these as a stimulus to create their masterpieces.
