Things to remember

  • Please remember to check that you have the correct uniform - if you are unsure then you can find the information on our website.
  • Please wear your P.E. kit to school every Monday as we have PE first lesson in the morning.
  • Our class swimming lsessions will begin in Autumn term 2 (Week beginning 4th November) every Tuesday, so please remember to bring your swimming kits (swimming costume, swimming hat and towel) ready for your swimming lesson.
  • You can still bring your own pencil cases and stationary equipment into school with you, but it is your responsibility to look after these.
  • If you have any worries or concerns, please come to see me or you can email Mr Webster or send a private message on Google Classroom if you need to speak to me and I will do all I can to help you.

Homework

Maths and English homework will be set every Thursday. Maths homework will be set on My Maths and English homework will be set on EdShed. The English homework will consist of learning spellings ready for a spelling test the following week. All homework is due the following week on a Tuesday morning. If you do not have access to an iPad, laptop or device for your homework, please speak to Mr Webster before Tuesday and he can help you. If you are struggling with your homework, Mr Webster will be available on Friday lunchtimes to go over this with you - so please do not worry!

You will also be given a times tables test every Tuesday morning, so please make sure you learn your tables! Hit the button, TTRS and TTserve are great ways to learn your tables.

Reading

Reading is a very important skill and Year 4/5 is no different to any other year. You will be expected to have a reading book in school every day. This book should go home and someone at home should try and read with you at least once per week. Your reading should be recorded on Boom Reader by an adult and it should be returned to the classroom each morning and taken home again each evening. You will also be expected to access Reading Plus at home and you will have a target to meet each week.

Year 4/5 may seem a really scary year, but it can be the best year yet! You will need to work hard, but we will also have so much fun. There are so many brilliant things which usually happen in Year 4/5.
