In Geography, we have been learning about our local area through our topic, What Is It Like Here? The children have enjoyed becoming young geographers as they explore the area around our school and discover what makes it such a special place to live and learn.

We have been studying aerial photographs of our school grounds and the surrounding area, identifying familiar landmarks and thinking about how places look from above. The children have also been learning how to use simple maps and recognise a range of map symbols, helping them to develop their understanding of how maps help us find our way around.

We are very lucky to have so many interesting features right on our doorstep. The children have enjoyed learning about our local coastline and the seaside, as well as the fascinating history of Arbeia Fort.
