During the first part of the Autumn term Class 3 will be studying the topic of 'Plants: An introduction to plants'.

Week 1 – we have been onto the field to look for a variety of different plants. The children were tasked with finding a plant which was taller than themselves, a plant with lots of leaves, a plant which was smelly, a plant with a flower, a plant growing in a strange place and a tree trunk. The children were fantastic at identifying all of these plant types.

Week 2 – the children set up an investigation to determine whether a broad bean would grow without water. They are enjoying checking on their seeds.

Week 3 – this week we looked at the different parts of a plant (root, stem, leaves and flowers) and found out what each part does. All the children drew an amazing flower and labelled it correctly.

Week 4 and 5 - the children have learnt about wild plants and garden plants. They have observed the similarities and differences between the 2 types of plants. They know that garden plants have been placed in specific positions, whilst wild plants grow wherever the seeds land.
