Summer Spectacular 2018!!

The work beings now for the choir to get ready for the Summer Spectacular 2018.

This years theme is...

heart frown Best of 80's! frown heart

It's important to us at Hadrian that the children are involved in the process of creating the show, as well as performing it it. I would therefore like to invite choir members to come to me if there are any 80's songs that they would like to suggest, and they will be considered. They need to have lyrics that are appropriate for children to sing and to be a suitable song for a choir to sing.

We have started learning some songs already and the lyrics are below if you would like to practice at home. We like to try out lots of songs over the term, before we decide on the final ones in the show.

Something inside so strong

The higher you build your barriers
The taller I become
The further you take my rights away
The faster I will run
You can deny me, you can decide
To turn your face away
No matter 'cause there's

Something inside so strong
I know that I can make it
Though you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone, oh no
There's something inside so strong
Oh, something inside so strong

The more you refuse to hear my voice (ooh-weh ooh-weh ooh-weh ooh-weh)
The louder I will sing
You hide behind walls of Jericho (ooh-weh ooh-weh ooh-weh ooh-weh)
Your lies will come tumbling
Deny my place in time, you squander wealth that's mine
My light will shine so brightly
Cause there's

Something inside so strong, strong
I know that I can make it
Though you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone, oh no
There's something inside so strong
Oh, something inside so strong

Brothers and sisters
When they insist we're just not good enough
Well we know better
Just look him in his eyes and say
We're gonna do it anyway
We're gonna do it anyway

We're gonna do it anyway

There's something inside so strong
And I know that I can make it
Though you're doing me wrong, so wrong
You thought that my pride was gone, oh no
There's something inside so strong, oh
Something inside so strong

Oh oh, something inside so strong
Oh oh, something inside so strong
Oh oh, something inside so strong

The Lion Sleeps Tonight

Ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-awim-away

Ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-ee-awim-away

A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh

In the jungle, the mighty jungle
The lion sleeps tonight
In the jungle the quiet jungle
The lion sleeps tonight

A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh

Near the village the peaceful village
The lion sleeps tonight
Near the village the quiet village
The lion sleeps tonight

A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh
A-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh, a-weema-weh

ahh-oom

Life in a Northern Town

A Salvation Army Band played
And Children drunk lemonade
And the morning lasted all day,
All day
And through an open window he came
Like Sinatra in a younger day,
Pushing the town away
Ah

Ah hey ma ma ma alitn nigh

Ah hey ma ma ma hey ah
Life in a northern town.

Ah hey ma ma ma alitn nigh

Ah hey ma ma ma hey ah
Life in a northern town.

They sat on the stoney ground
And he took a cigarette out
And everyone else came down
To listen.
He said "In winter 1963
It felt like the world would freeze
With John F. Kennedy
And The Beatles."

Ah hey ma ma ma alitn nigh

Ah hey ma ma ma hey ah
Life in a northern town.

Ah hey ma ma ma alitn nigh

Ah hey ma ma ma hey ah
Life in a northern town.

The evening had turned to rain
Watch the water roll down the drain,
As we followed him down
To the station
And he never would wave goodbye,
You could see it written in his eyes
As the train pulled out of sight
Bye-bye

Ah hey ma ma ma alitn nigh

Ah hey ma ma ma hey ah
Life in a northern town.

Ah hey ma ma ma alitn nigh

Ah hey ma ma ma hey ah
Life in a northern town.

Eternal Flame

Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating
Do you understand
Do you feel the same
Am I only dreaming
Is this burning an eternal flame

I believe it's meant to be, darling
I watch you when you are sleeping
You belong with me
Do you feel the same
Am I only dreaming
Or is this burning an eternal flame

Say my name sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely
then you come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling Ohhh

Say my name sun shines through the rain
A whole life so lonely
then you come and ease the pain
I don't want to lose this feeling Ohhh

Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating
Do you understand
Do you feel the same
Am I only dreaming
Is this burning an eternal flame

Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling
Do you feel my heart beating
Do you understand
Do you feel the same
Am I only dreaming
Is this burning an eternal flame

Friends will be friends

Another red letter day
So the pound has dropped and the children are creating
The other half ran away
Taking all the cash and leaving you with the lumber
Got a pain in the chest
Doctors on strike what you need is a rest

It's not easy love, but you've got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand 'cause friends will be friends
Right till the end

Now it's a beautiful day
The postman delivered a letter from your boyfriend
Only a phone call away
You tried to track him down but somebody stole his number
As a matter of fact
You're getting used to life without him in your way

It's so easy now, 'cause you got friends you can trust

Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand 'cause friends will be friends
Right till the end

It's so easy now, 'cause you got friends you can trust
Friends will be friends
When you're in need of love they give you care and attention
Friends will be friends
When you're through with life and all hope is lost
Hold out your hand friends will be friends
Right till the end

Our House

Father wears his Sunday best
Mother's tired, she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sister's sighing in her sleep (ah)
Brother's got a date to keep, he can't hang around

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our

Our house, it has a crowd
There's always something happening
And it's usually quite loud
Our mum she's so house-proud
Nothing ever slows her down and a mess is not allowed

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our
Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our

Father gets up late for work
Mother has to iron his shirt
Then she sends the kids to school
Sees them off with a small kiss (ah)
She's the one they're going to miss in lots of ways

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our

I remember way back when everything was true and when
We would have such a very good time, such a fine time
Such a happy time
And I remember how we'd play, simply waste the day away
Then we'd say that nothing would come between us
Two dreamers

Father wears his Sunday best
Mother's tired, she needs a rest
The kids are playing up downstairs
Sister's sighing in her sleep
Brother's got a date to keep, he can't hang around

Our house, in the middle of our street
Our house, in the middle of our street

Music

There's so much going on in music at Hadrian!

We truly recognise the value of music in both curricular and extra curricular teaching and learning.  Music provides children with an outlet to express themselves creatively, appreciate different styles of music, learn a new instrument or experiment with their voices.  Without suchvaluable experiences our school community would not be the vibrant, entertaining and enjoyable place it is!

At Hadrian we offer:

  • Weekly class music sessions
  • Fortnightly singing sessions
  • A well established and successful choir
  • Piano tuition
  • Guitar sessions
  • Violin Tuition
  • Music Tuition across all year groups which will include, percussion, recorder, chime bars, ocarinas and tin whistles.
